ODU’s Master of Science in Medical Practice Management provides students with the skills and competencies necessary for managerial and executive-level positions in medical practices and health services organizations and facilities.
ODU students gain knowledge of health care law, regulations and economics, and demonstrate strong leadership, analytical and decision-making skills that prepare them for successful and fulfilling careers.
Special emphasis is placed on strategic planning to better prepare students for managerial survival in the dynamic business environment that now permeates the health care industry.
Major subjects and trends covered include the impact of the Affordable Care Act, "meaningful use" requirements on billing and patient records, development of Accountable Care Organizations, increasing competition through the opening of clinics in traditional retail settings, and health care exchanges.
