Dr. Jim Schnell has been on the Ohio Dominican University faculty since 1989. He was tenured in 1992 and promoted to Full Professor in 1999. He has held faculty appointments at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, Miami University, Beijing Jiotong University (China) and the Royal University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia). The aforementioned have included undergraduate and graduate faculty status. He has 11 published books, over 70 book chapters & journal articles, and has delivered over 150 professional conference presentations dealing with political rhetoric, cross-cultural communication and communication processes. He was a Fulbright Scholar to Cambodia and has completed three fellowships at the East-West Center (Honolulu, Hawaii). Schnell is included in the Who's Who in Media & Communications and has earned Master Teacher recognition at Ohio Dominican. Schnell has had research papers accepted for presentation at the annual meeting the National Communication Association each year since 1983 and has functioned as a paid political analyst on television and radio. He has traveled on over 50 trips to over 55 countries & territories outside of the continental United States, with visits to all the continents (except Antarctica), including over 20 trips to mainland China. Schnell retired from the USAFR at the rank of Colonel in 2007 after 30 years in the military intelligence community. His final 14 years were as an Assistant Air Force Attache to Beijing, China which resulted in him receiving the Legion of Merit medal. This was preceded by assignment to Special Operations Command/Pacific (he is included in the Special Operations Memorial at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida).
