Dr. Janette Knowles, Chair of the Division of Fine Art and Communication, Director of the Wehrle Gallery, received her Ph.D.in Art Education from The Ohio State University where she wrote a dissertation on women's involvement in the 19th century arts and crafts movement. She was awarded a prestigious internship at the J.Paul Getty Museum which led to a career in various museums such as the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Columbus Museum of Art. Dr. Knowles has also served as a museum education consultant for various institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, Art Express of New South Wales, Australia, and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England. She is an active member of the International Society for Education in the Arts, the National Art Education Association, as well as the Ohio Art Education Association, presenting several papers every year. Dr. Knowles also has an active regional lecturing schedule and a working printmaker.
