Biography

Mr. Vensel returned to the classroom in Fall of 2010 after 14 years in university Academic Affairs administration, serving most recently as Dean of the LEAD Program. Prior to his administrative assignments, and at various points in his career, Mr. Vensel served as Director of Theatre, Chair of the Department of  Communication, and Chair of the Division of Fine and Communication Arts.

Within the field of Communication Studies, Mr. Vensel’s academic interests focus on the role that rhetoric plays in contemporary society and on aspects of oral performance in public communication. His interest in theatre continues, and he also teaches basic courses in the Theatre Arts.

Outside of academe, and aside from home and family, Mr. Vensel most enjoys cruising Lake Erie on his sailboat, Wind Spirit. It does not take much to get Mr. Vensel talking about his boat and his adventures on it (All spoken, of course, in the most dramatic way with the clearest of rhetorical argument and with clarity of voice and diction!)
