Dr. Nicole Damico Powell is the Academic Coordinator for the Physician Assistant Studies program and the Division of Mathematics, Computer and Natural Sciences at Ohio Dominican University.

For the past 12 years, Dr. Powell has been dedicated to the education and mentoring of professional and graduate students in the classroom and in the laboratory at The Ohio State University colleges of Dentistry and Medicine. She believes in and has benefited greatly from an interdisciplinary approach to education, training, and research.

As evidenced by her research, she has had a long-standing interest in understanding factors that contribute to autoimmune and infectious disease onset, exacerbation, and resolution. Her research has been published in top-tier scientific journals, she has authored several reviews and book chapters, and her work has been presented nationally and internationally.

Dr. Powell is currently a co-investigator with a team of collaborators at OSU’s Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research on a National Institutes of Health sponsored grant, which focuses on the influence of stress on immunity and behavior.

In addition to her professional life, Dr. Powell is a wife and a mother of two, and is actively involved and deeply committed to community outreach and service.

Her faith and her family keep her grounded and inspired, and her children and her students have taught her as much over the years as she has taught them. She looks forward to continuing her work with Physician Assistant graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, and the greater University community.
