Dr. Anjel Stough-Hunter earned a master’s degree in Medical Anthropology from University College London in London, England, and then graduated from The Ohio State University where she earned her doctoral degree in Rural Sociology. Her research focuses on gender, health and the management of natural resources within the context of the local community.  She is interested in the notion that perceptions of risk and decisions about both health and the natural environment are made within the socially constructed context of locally based daily life. Her dissertation titled “Examining the Role of Community and Gender on Perceptions of Impaired Water Quality: A Comparative Case Study” combined quantitative and qualitative methods to examine how gender and place influence perceptions of impaired water quality.  She plans to teach Introduction to Sociology, Deviance and Institutional Problems, Research Methods and Sociological Theory.
