ODU's Village to Child Program Welcomes New Director

 COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio Dominican University has hired Reina M. Sims, MS, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio to lead ODU’s award-winning neighborhood outreach program – Village to Child (VTC). She began her official duties on June 10, 2009. “I am delighted to join Ohio Dominican in capacity of director for one of the institutions most historic and active community programs,” said Sims.

As the director, Ms. Sims will oversee the operation and growth of VTC program which serves middle and high school students and their families who live in the 43219 Zip code area. The program was initiated in 1994 by then ODU President  Sister Mary Andrew Matesich . VTC has three goals: academic achievement, academic enrichment and a boost to high school graduation with a primary emphasis on middle school success while strongly encouraging postsecondary education. VTC is positioned with the University’s Academic Affairs Division to allow for better connections to the University’s academic resources.

Ms. Sims has previous experience working with Ohio’s Department of Education, the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation, Ohio Department of Health, Columbus Public Schools, and The Central Ohio Breathing Association. She received her master’s in administration from Central Michigan University in 2003 and her bachelor’s of science in education from The Ohio State University.
