Student Group Earns 1st Place at National Accounting Competition
ODU accounting students were in Washington D.C. on February 17 and 18 for the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Fourth Annual Government Finance Case Challenge Finals and the ODU team triumphed over North Carolina State University and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for a 1st Place finish. The ODU Governmental Accounting Case Challenge team included Josh Wolfe (captain), Lindsay Shenefield, Eric St John, and Professor Bob Osborne, Faculty Advisor.
Thirty college teams from across the country collaboratively designed a Citizen-Centric Report for the fictional city of Peppersville, GA. For the finals, each of the three teams offered a maximum 25-minute presentation of its case response to a panel of judges at the NLC. The winning team receives cash prizes and one free year of AGA membership.
Last August, the AGA invited the best undergraduate accounting/financial management/business students in the country to compete in the fourth annual Government Finance Case Challenge. This is the third year that Ohio Dominican accepted that challenge and this was their first trip to the finals.
