New Accelerated Bachelor Degree in Accounting

Adult Students at Computer

2011-10-06

Ohio Dominican University (ODU) is offering a new Bachelor of Science degree program in Accounting through the Learning Enhanced Adult Degree (LEAD) Program.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, accountants and auditors are expected to experience much faster than average employment growth from 2008 through2018. Job opportunities are expected to be favorable; accountants and auditors who have a professional certification, especially CPAs, should have the best prospects.

The LEAD Program is designed to help working adults attain their educational goals in an environment that meets their specific learning needs. LEAD currently offers a number of degree programs including the Associate of Science in Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Management.

In the LEAD Program, students take one class at a time, meet one night a week, and continue their studies year-round, enabling them to complete their degree in a compressed timeframe. A unique aspect of the LEAD Program is collaborative learning. Adult students should learn as much from shared life and work experiences with other students as they do from textbooks and lectures. As a result, learning activities and instructional formats in the LEAD Program include seminars, online research, small group discussions, presentations, case studies, brainstorming, and other experiences which require individuals to work together to accomplish common goals. Employees who succeed in cooperative settings are often more productive and creative – qualities employers look for in today’s highly competitive marketplace.

ODU will host an information session about this new program, as well as all other LEAD undergraduate and graduate business degree programs, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at ODU’s LEAD Building, 2600 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219. Prospective students who are interested in learning more should call ODU’s LEAD Program at (614) 473-9003 or visit the program’s website.

LEAD Program courses are offered at ODU’s main campus (1216 Sunbury Road, Columbus, 42319); ODU’s LEAD Building (2600 Airport Drive, Columbus, 43219); and the Dublin Campus (5550 Blazer Parkway, Dublin, 43017).
