Groundbreaking Ceremony for Final Phase of Alum Creek Trail

On Aug. 26, ODU President Peter Cimbolic, Ph.D. and University trustees joined Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, Columbus Recreation and Parks officials and other community leaders at a groundbreaking ceremony for the final phase of the Alum Creek Trail.

When complete, this 22-mile trail will connect Westerville to Obetz and run directly through our campus. This trail will allow thousands of cyclists, runners and walkers to experience ODU’s campus in a new and fun way.

It also will give students better access the rich wetlands that surround campus to enhance their academic studies. Finally, a bridge will connect main campus to ODU’s east campus, making it possible to easily walk from one side of campus to the other. The project is expected to be completed next summer.
