Ohio Dominican University Senior Receives All-America Scholar Award

NORMAN, Okla. – Ohio Dominican University Senior  Kevin Hartoin(Cincinnati, Ohio) received the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar award. The GCAA office made the announcement early this afternoon. 

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university. 

Hartoin is one of just seven student-athletes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and one of 52 student-athletes in Division II to receive the honor. 

Kevin, a Finance major, carries a 3.77 grade point average and has received numerous achievements both on the course and in the classroom. 

He has been a two-time GLIAC All-Academic Excellence honoree, 2010 GCAA All-Region, 2010 All-Conference (KIAC/Independent), 2010 MVNU Cougar Classic medalist, 2010 ODU Golfer of the Year, 2010 ODU Tee to Green Award Winner, and has earned five Academic Excellence Awards. 

To achieve GLIAC academic excellence, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.5-4.0. 

On the course, Hartoin has had four top five finishes, 11 top 10 and 14 top 20 finishes with an average of 77.4. His best finish came in 2009 where he earned first place at the MVNU Cougar Classic.
