Merrick Named NSCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year



KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Ohio Dominican University head men's soccer coach Willy Merrick was selected as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the NSCAA. 

Merrick, in his sixth year at the helm, guided the Panthers to one of their best finishes in program history as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season champions and GLIAC tournament champions. He also guided his Panthers to a first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament. 

At ODU, Merrick has led the Panthers to an impressive 65-33-15 record, including a 12-3-4 record in 2013. The Panthers also held an impressive unbeaten streak from Sept. 29 to Nov. 17, and posted an 8-1-2 record at Panther Field. Merrick was also honored as the GLIAC Coach of the Year, his second overall. 

As a regional winner, Merrick is now eligible for selection as national coach of the year.
