New Medical Practice Management Master’s Program Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission
Columbus, OH – The Higher Learning Commission has approved Ohio Dominican University’s (ODU’s) new graduate program in Medical Practice Management, which will launch in January of 2014.
ODU’s Master of Science in Medical Practice Management (MSMPM) program will be instructed by faculty with vast, diverse professional experiences in health services. The program’s courses will be held one night a week to offer working adults an opportunity to achieve their degree around their schedule. Additionally, students will gain relevant experience through ODU’s strong network of health professionals and organizations in the greater Columbus region.
“ODU’s Medical Practice Management program is specifically designed to provide students with the skills and competencies necessary for long-term success in managerial and executive-level positions in medical practices and other health service organizations,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Theresa Holleran, Ph.D. “Graduates will possess knowledge of health care law, regulations and economics, as well as leadership, analytical and decision-making skills, that will help them successfully manage a medical practice in today’s rapidly changing health care climate.”
The health care management field is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the medical and health services manager profession is expected to experience 22 percent job growth (68,000 jobs) from 2010-20. Additionally, Yahoo!
