    The Career Development Center provides individual career guidance and job/internship placement advising and resources. This includes self assessment, career exploration and planning, graduate school information, resume and cover letter critique, interview skill development, advising on job search strategies and employment resources.

    Whether you are undeclared or feel sure about your major, we can assist you in choosing a direction that suits your individual strengths and preferences.  In addition to self assessments, we have career information resources that let you explore, learn and choose a direction that suits you. Working with a career counselor will give you a new perspective on your personality as it relates to careers.  

    Planning and preparing for my career 

    Just like any exam or assignment, you have to do your homework and prepare for a career while you’re in college. All students need to gain prior experience, usually in the form of an internship. Developing a resume is also an important part of this stage.

    Whether you are searching for full-time, part-time or internship opportunities Career Center staff can help you identify effective ways to prepare for and conduct a job search. ODU JobLine also houses hundreds of job postings which are updated daily.
