• Intervention Specialist License

    Earn your Intervention Specialist license in just one year. Through online courses and in-class practicums, ODU's program offers the flexibility and convenience you need to earn your license.

    Ohio Dominican's Intervention Specialist Licensure Program is designed for currently licensed teachers who want to add the Intervention Specialist license to their teaching credentials. 

    Students complete a full academic year (three semesters) of courses and fieldwork leading to Ohio teacher licensure as an Intervention Specialist in mild to moderate (MM) and/or moderate to intensive (MI) K-12.

    Program Highlights

    • The Intervention Specialist courses are delivered online and are available as electives in ODU's M.Ed. program.
    • Because of the program's flexibility, teachers can continue teaching while they earn this license.
    • Licensed teachers who have met the prerequisites can complete the program requirements in 12 months.
    • Students in the program can enroll in additional courses in the M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction graduate degree program.
    • ODU’s Intervention Specialist Licensure Program is nationally recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children.

    Learning Outcomes

    • Addresses the knowledge, skills and dispositions required of intervention specialists serving students with mild to moderate and/or moderate to intensive educational needs while also reflecting the learning needs of already licensed teachers.
    • Prepares teachers for the Ohio Assessment for Educators (OAE) exam required for licensure as an intervention specialist K-12 (MM and or MI).
    • Teaches how to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
