    Ohio Dominican University has one of the most innovative Public Relations and Marketing Communications programs in the area. Students who participate in the program represent the latest thinking in the field. Students learn by doing – both in class and through internships.

    Public Relations majors at ODU also have the opportunity to join the ODU Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). You’ll work side-by-side with area professionals on real-life public relations projects. You’ll meet prospective employers and you’ll graduate with experience that’s real – and looks great on a resume.

    Facts about the Program

    Every graduate of ODU’s Public Relations and Marketing Communications program has taken advantage of at least one internship opportunity. However, most students have multiple internships prior to graduation. Upon graduation, our students are recruited for public relations and marketing communications positions in the Central Ohio area and beyond. Alumni and industry professionals are on our Board of Advisors, allowing students to meet and establish contacts with leaders in the field. Our student-led chapter of PRSSA provides students with leadership and project management experience in a low-risk, high-reward environment. All classes are taught by faculty who have real-world working experience in the field.  

    Faculty Highlights

    Natalie Kompa 

    Natalie Kompa has taught Public Relations courses at Columbus State Community College and at Ohio Dominican since 2002. She’s created several Public Relations and Marketing Communications courses for both colleges, including two that focus on Public Relations using new technologies. Professor Kompa has served companies in executive public relations management roles. She was a manager in the Public Affairs department for Borden, Inc. and led the public relations function for a major service company as Vice President of Public Relations for Huntington Bancshares, Inc. Kompa formed her own consulting business in 1997, working with mid-to-large-size companies on enhancing their visibility. Kompa is often asked to speak on public relations effectiveness and the future of Public Relations and the Internet.

    She belongs to numerous professional associations, including Public Relations Society of America, and volunteers with the Central Ohio Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Boy Scouts of America.
