Why did you choose to attend Ohio Dominican University?

I chose to attend ODU because of the convenience of its location and the structure of its Adult & Continuing Education program. It is most appealing to me because I am able to attend classes on campus and have access to all of the same resources as traditional students but in a setting tailored to adults who are already in the workforce.

How do you stay involved at ODU? What organizations do you participate in? What have you gained from them?

In my cohort, I am the ombudsman for our class. Though my responsibilities consist mostly of distributing and collecting class evaluations, I was quite flattered to be selected by my fellow students.

Members of my cohort often seek me out to relay information to the class and our instructor in times of absence, and we all enjoy a fairly close relationship.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I intend to continue my career at Ohio Health. A bachelor's degree is going to open up other opportunities for me and qualify me for advancement in my career. I've thought about teaching, since I do enjoy public speaking and working with students.

What is one unique experience you’ve had at ODU that has helped you grow personally, professionally and/or spiritually? Why?

One unique opportunity that I have at ODU is being involved in the Adult & Continuing Education open house events, which are held for prospective students. I'm frequently asked to participate as the representative current student and like to think that I'm helpful by not only answering the questions of prospective students but also in addressing some of their fears and apprehensions about returning to school. This is a truly rewarding experience and I enjoy it very much.

Through my experience at ODU, I've developed a stronger belief in myself and my ability to return to school and succeed in my studies. I strive to help others come to the realization that a college education is attainable for anyone who has a desire to succeed.

Why are you proud to be an ODU student?

I am very proud to be an ODU student! I love our close-knit campus and our faculty and student body. There are so many opportunities to participate in activities, just like at larger universities, but you don’t feel lost in a sea of students.

I also feel connected to my faith by my association with the University. There is a very spiritual feel to the campus that puts me at ease from the moment I arrive. I have no doubt that the education I'm receiving is the best for me and my future.
