    Major: Public Relations

    Hometown: Columbus
Organizations & Activities: Panther Players, Residence Life, PRSSA, ODU Chorus, ODU Ambassador

Why did you choose to attend Ohio Dominican University?

I chose to attend ODU because I was really attracted to the small campus and the wide range of degree choices. I came from a small high school, so I was looking for a small university and it was great that Ohio Dominican was so close to home!

Also, since I came to ODU undecided on a major, it was really awesome having a lot of options.

How do you stay involved at ODU?

I am very involved around campus. I have been a Student Ambassador since my freshman year and I have been an RA for two years.

I’m also in the Panther Players (ODU’s theater group), the ODU Chorus, and the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). I really enjoy staying involved and believe it’s important to having a great college experience!

Have you participated in any internships?

During fall 2013, I had an internship with the Conway Center for Family business, a local nonprofit organization that provides educational programs and resources for family-owned businesses in Central Ohio.

I did a lot of news writing for the organization and helped with day-to-day tasks at the office. It was a great experience and I got to meet influential people in my field.

What organizations do you participate in, and what have you gained from them?

Some the organizations that I’m involved in and have really benefitted me are PRSSA and the Panther Players. PRSSA is great for Public Relations, Business and Communications majors because it can help you get to know your field better and make connections that can lead to internships and even jobs.

The Panther Players organization has been great for me because that is how I met a lot of my friends on campus. We really enjoy putting shows together and always have a great time when we’re together.

What would you say to a prospective student who is considering attending ODU?

I would tell any prospective student about how great my experience at ODU has been both educationally and socially. I have learned more about my field through my classes than I could have ever thought was possible, and I have had fantastic professors over the past few years that have always been more than willing to help and support me.

I have been fortunate to find a great group of friends who share my interests and I have had some great experiences with them that I will remember for a long time.

What is your most memorable moment at ODU?

I would say my most memorable moment was ODU Day during my sophomore year. ODU Day is one of the most fun days of the year! I spent it with my best friend, Liz, and we ran around all day going down the zip line, jumping on the Velcro wall and just having a great time. It was an awesome day and we were both exhausted by the end!

What do you want to do after graduation?

I plan on entering my career field after graduation and hopefully finding a job in the public relations or communications industry. My dream job is to work in the PR department at Disney Parks or Disney Corporate.

What is one unique experience you’ve had at ODU that has helped you grow personally, professionally and/or spiritually? Why?

I think the experience I’ve had at ODU that has helped me grow most personally was my study abroad trip to Rome during spring 2013. I had an opportunity to travel to Rome for two weeks and it was the first time I had ever been abroad.

It was such an amazing experience, and it really helped me realize how much is out there for me to be a part of and how many great experiences I have ahead of me!

What sets ODU apart from other universities you could have attended?

What sets ODU apart from other universities is definitely the people. There are so many wonderful people at Ohio Dominican; from administrators, to professors, to friends!

How proud are you to be an ODU student?

I am so proud to be an ODU student! I am always getting comments from strangers about what a great institution ODU is when I mention to them where I go to school. Our community has grown tremendously, even in my short time here, in everything from academics to athletics.

I can’t wait to display my diploma from Ohio Dominican in my office one day and be able to share the wonderful experiences I’ve had.
