Applicants must complete the following prerequisites for admission:
Applicants must have completed all prerequisite coursework within eight (8) years of admission to Ohio Dominican’s Physician Assistant Studies program. Each prerequisite course must be at least three (3) semester credit hours (unless otherwise noted).
It is recommended that the majority of academic work be completed prior to application.
Preference will be given to students with further coursework at the undergraduate or graduate level, including but not limited to genetics, immunology, physics, additional psychology, additional physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology or additional mathematics.
Preference will also be given to current Ohio residents, graduates of Ohio Dominican University, those with significant health care experience, and those who have served in our nation's armed forces.
Students are required to successfully pass a medical terminology examination administered shortly after the program begins in the first semester. Students will not advance in the program until they pass this examination.
To prepare for this examination, students are strongly advised to study and complete the latest edition of Medical Terminology: A short course, by Davi-Ellen Chabner, WB Saunder Co. Publishing.
