Ohio Dominican invites applications for the following anticipated faculty positions (pending budget approval) from
candidates committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship. Participation in core curriculum seminars is
expected of full-time faculty from all disciplines. Unless otherwise noted, all positions will be either tenure-track
or renewable term and will begin August 1, 2008. Successful appointments are subject to pre-employment
background checks.
Developmental Writing. The Division of Literature and Language seeks a developmental writing and reading specialist
to teach up to three sections of remedial reading and writing in fall semesters and up to three sections of composition
in spring semesters with possible responsibilities in the writing center. A Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition is preferred
and a successful record of teaching developmental writing at the college level is expected.
General/Nursing Chemistry. The Division of Mathematics, Computer and Natural Sciences is seeking a chemist with a
strong interest and significant experience in teaching beginning students. Teaching responsibilities include general
chemistry for pre-nursing and science students and organic and biological chemistry for pre-nurses. Teaching research
methods, the seminar for majors, and physical science for non-majors may be rotated with other faculty. Interest in
inorganic chemistry is desirable. Research with undergraduates is expected and supported. Candidates are asked to
submit a one-page summary detailing their anticipated research agenda. A Ph.D. is required, as is appropriate
university and professional service, including contribution to academic and program advising and assessment.
History. The Division of Theology, Arts and Ideas seeks a historian of modern world or nonwestern history. Area of
specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose scholarship transcends a single region and are
able to address the intersections between cultures and religions, global/transnational issues and/or comparative
history. A twentieth-century focus is desirable. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, have a
successful record of teaching at the college level, and have interest in contributing to the University’s interdisciplinary
graduate program in liberal studies.
TESOL. The Education Division seeks a candidate holding an earned doctorate in teaching English to speakers of other
languages as well as teaching experience at P-12 grade levels. Teaching experience at the university level is highly
desirable. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses related to the teaching of English to speakers of other
languages and advising graduate students in the MA-TESOL program. Other responsibilities may include teaching
undergraduate interdisciplinary seminars and supervising graduate research projects. Teaching assignments will be
based on the individual’s background and interests and the needs of the Education Division.

The Datatel Systems Analyst works with the ODU Information Services team in system design and analysis for our campus Datatel system. Other responsibilities of the position include: designing, testing, implementing, and supporting reporting initatives, new computer programs, nd customization or enhancements of existing programs; leading workshops and providing individual or group training; maintain administrative databases and Colleague and Benefactor custom programming; and demonstrate project leadership through the development lifecycle of any custom application requested by University offices.
Qualifications for the Datatel Systems Analyst include: A Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field. Proven Datatel experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience with the Datatel system.
