2003 Monsignor Fick Literary Brunch

The Monsignor Fick Committee of Ohio Dominican University will host the Monsignor Fick Literary Brunch, "A Kaleidoscope of Ohio History," on Sunday, March 23, 2003. The Brunch will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Sansbury Hall Colonial Room.

A Memorial Mass will immediately precede the brunch, at 11:00 a.m. in Christ the King Chapel in honor of deceased alumni/ae, faculty, friends and their families. Christ the King Chapel is located in Sansbury Hall on the Ohio Dominican University campus, 1216 Sunbury Road.

The brunch program will feature Mary Anne Brown '64, curator of Adena State Memorial, who will speak on "The Restoration of Adena."

Brown, a native of Chillicothe, earned a B.A. in History from Ohio Dominican University and M.A. in American History from Ohio University. Her Master's thesis topic was the construction, furnishing and decoration of Adena, home of Thomas Worthington, considered the father of Ohio statehood. Brown has been employed with the Ohio Historical Society at Adena State Memorial for 43 years, where she has spent 17 summers as a guide and 26 years as site manager and curator. She currently serves on the board of trustees for the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau.

2003 marks the 54th anniversary of the arrival of Monsignor Leonard J. Fick, who taught as a professor at the Ohio Dominican campus from 1948 to 1969. Monsignor Fick was immensely popular among students, introducing them to literary classics, creative writing, research and drama.

The cost for the brunch is $17.00 for adults and $10.00 for students. Proceeds of the literary brunch support the Monsignor Fick Scholarship Fund for Ohio Dominican students majoring in English.
