ODU Offers Ministry Workshops

COLUMBUS, OH -Ohio Dominican University is providing opportunities in pastoral
theology by offering several ministry workshops in the summer of 2004. These workshops
are designed to enhance the pastoral competencies of participants. The workshops are
intended both for those already in ministry as well as for those preparing for such a
career. The workshops are open to persons of all faiths.
The workshops are:
Thursday, June 10, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 12, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, June 17, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
An overview of basic listening and attending skills and their application to individual
and group settings.
Saturday, July 10, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday July 17, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
An introduction to the principles guiding prudent and appropriate assessment of
behavior patterns; discussion of intervention options and processes. Guidance in
implementing a pastoral care approach in parish ministry.
Thursday, July 22, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 24, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
An introduction to the process of planning and leading retreat experiences; an
overview of various retreat types, formats and spiritual traditions as well as practical
tools, skills and resources to implement in retreat development.
A detailed retreat planning process will be presented and practiced.
The registration fee for each workshop is $100, and the deadline for registration
