Dr. Mark Cole to be Featured in ODU's Life of the Mind Series

COLUMBUS, OH - Dr. Mark Cole, Associate Curator of American Painting
and Sculpture at the Cleveland Museum of Art, will speak at Ohio Dominican
University on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wehrle
Gallery, as part of the university's Life of the Mind Series. The lecture,
entitled 'On American Art', will elaborate on his view of art and its
significant impact.
Sponsored by Ohio Dominican University's Office of Academic Affairs, the
Life of the Mind Series provides occasions for the community to gather to reflect
upon the ideas and events that shape our culture. The lecture is free and open
to the public. Wehrle Hall is located on Ohio Dominican University's main campus,
1216 Sunbury Road, Columbus. Free parking is available in the Visitor's Lot, west
of Sunbury Road.
Prior to his position in Cleveland, Cole worked at the Columbus Museum of Art
for three years, progressing from Assistant Curator to Associate Curator and
finally to Curator of American Art. Before that he lectured on Art History at
Baldwin-Wallace College and John Carroll University, and was a research assistant
at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Cole earned his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.
He also received a Master of Arts degree in Art History from Case Western Reserve
University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from John Carroll University.
