Catherine of Siena was declared a "Doctor of the Church" by Pope Paul VI in
1970, a title which designates her as one of the preeminent teachers of the faith
in the history of the Catholic Church. This lecture seeks to explore Catherine's
writings to understand why she is considered a model teacher.
Ohio Dominican's Life of the Mind Series provides occasions for the community
to gather to reflect upon the ideas and events that shape our culture. Sponsored
by ODU's Office of Academic Affairs and Humanities Program, the series features
artists, musicians, intellectuals, and critics who contribute to the life of the mind.
