Ohio Dominican to Give Back to Community During Holiday Break
January 10, 2005
COLUMBUS, OH - Most students use their breaks for well-earned rest and
recuperation after finals, but several Ohio Dominican University students
are finding time during their holiday break to participate in the Project
Open Heart inner-city service plunge.
The service opportunity will take place January 13 -16 while ODU is still
out of session due to the mid-year break. Participating students will spend
four days and three nights in downtown Columbus, working with the less fortunate.
Members of ODU's faculty and staff will join the students for portions of the
Project Open Heart experience, to share how faith, education and service are
integrated into their own lives.
According to ODU's Campus Minister Jennifer Schaaf, "This is a way for
students to connect their faith with service to the community. Many students
are participating in Project Open Heart for a second time as a result of having
such a positive experience in the past."
This is the third year that Ohio Dominican Campus Ministry has sponsored
Project Open Heart.
