Ohio Dominican Features Artist Whitney Lucks
November 29, 2005
COLUMBUS , OH – Ohio Dominican University will present “Attic Flowers: New Work by Whitney Lucks”, in Wehrle Gallery on Ohio Dominican’s main campus from November 20, 2005 until January 22, 2006.
In this body of work, Lucks, a figurative painter, explores the rich surface design of vintage papers and textiles found while cleaning out an attic.
Lucks is known for her ordinary household scenes such as a closet of dresses, or a young child asleep with bold, saturated colors, and assured brushstrokes. Her use of strong shapes, coupled with the simple imagery of these intimate scenes captures the essence of her subjects, and asserts the deliberate choices made in these paintings.
Lucks received her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Pine Manor College . She has participated in exhibits in Boston, Massachusetts and Columbus, Ohio.
The opening reception of “Attic Flowers” will take place on November 20, from 1:00-3:00 pm in Wehrle Gallery, located on the main level of Wehrle Hall, on Ohio Dominican University ’s main campus, 1216 Sunbury Road . Free parking is available in the Visitors Lot, west of Sunbury Road .
