ODU Students Offer Glimpse of College Life in Blogs
January 4, 2006
COLUMBUS, OH --Prospective students, parents and current students can now get a firsthand account of college life through the words and pictures of 6 students on Ohio Dominican’s new student blogging site.
Blogs or web logs, are online journals. Like any other blog, these entries reflect the opinions of the authors. Topics discussed run the gamut and include dorm life, exams, adjusting to college life, jobs, friends, spirituality and clubs.
“ODU student blogs are a great way for prospective students to get a glimpse into student life, inside and outside of the classroom,” said Nicole Evans, Associate Director of Admissions. “It doesn't replace a visit to our campus, but it gives prospective students and their families a window into our community.”
The ODU blogs are being written by Freshmen Zach King and Audia Fraley; Sophomores Christina Munoz and Sam Prewitt; and Seniors Amy Lister and Jason Murray.
Visitors can follow Jason as he begins student teaching while working as a Resident Assistant or catch up with Amy as she prepares for graduation. They can read about dorm life at ODU from Christina, a native Californian, or hear from Sam about what it’s like to be the manager of RadiODU. They can also see how first-year students Audia and Zach are handling their freshmen experiences.
The students were chosen based on recommendations from faculty and staff members and include freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Freshmen provide an in-depth look into their first-year experiences while seniors offer insights into their entire college career as well as their preparations for graduation and life after college. Each week they will be updating their blogs with text entries and photos.
