Ohio Dominican Appoints University Chaplain

COLUMBUS, OH -- Ohio Dominican University announces the appointment of Father John Boll, O.P. as University Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry.

Fr. Boll is a 1976 graduate of Ohio Dominican, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology. He received his master’s degree in Divinity from the Dominican House of Studies, Cluster of Theological Schools in Washington, D.C. and has also studied at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

“I have always wanted to return to Ohio Dominican to give back some of the vocation and gifts I received while here. My work centers on both pastoral duties and leadership. Pastorally, I work with our campus ministers to provide care for the ODU students, faculty, and staff. Leadership duties are focused on building community and enhancing the Catholic-Dominican identity of the University,” said Fr. Boll.

Fr. Boll has been working in campus ministry since 1982, most recently in Houston where he served both the University of Houston and Texas Southern University.

“My favorite part of campus ministry is working with the questions, doubts, and challenges of young adults. It is my belief that it is precisely in a willingness to ask, to search, and to question, that one is able to become a mature human being and believer,” he said.

Fr. Boll resides in Columbus, Ohio.
