Ohio Dominican Features Artist Kay Bea Jones

November 7, 2006

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Dominican University will host an artist’s reception for its newest exhibition, Painting and the Pedagogy of Architecture: The work of Kay Bea Jones, on Sunday, November 12 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Wehrle Gallery. The exhibition features the works of Kay Bea Jones, Associate Professor at Knowlton School of Architecture at Ohio State University.

The exhibition will look at the tradition of travel pedagogy in architectural study.  Jones’ detailed yet expressive paintings of sites such as Sperlonga, Italy speak both to the architect’s eye for structure and the painter’s desire for expression.

Jones is currently working with the Italian Ministry of Culture on the forthcoming Triennale exhibition for the Franco Albini Centennial and received the 2006 Design Award from the Environmental Design Research Association for the planning and design of Buckeye Village Community Center. She received her certificate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Oslo, Norway; her bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts and Women’s Studies from St. Olaf College; and her master’s degree in Architecture from Yale University.

The exhibition is open to the public and will be on display in the gallery through January 12, 2007. Wehrle Gallery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is located on the main level of Wehrle Hall, on Ohio Dominican University’s main campus, 1216 Sunbury Road. Parking is available in the Visitors Lots directly west of Sunbury Road.
