New Faculty Join Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, OH—Ohio Dominican University is pleased to welcome the following new faculty members:
Hope Benton-Borghi joins ODU as a visiting assistant professor of education. Benton-Borghi most recently served as a visiting lecturer at The Ohio State University. She has written and directed many educational grant projects and has 12 years of secondary school teaching experience. She received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Massachusetts State College; a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Boston University; and a master’s degree in Education Policy and Leadership from The Ohio State University. She recently completed her Ph.D at OSU. Benton-Borghi is a member of the American Association of University Women, the American Education Research Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Consortium for School Networking, the Council for Exceptional Children, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organization. She is a resident of Columbus.
Elizabeth Biglin, Ph.D joins Ohio Dominican as a visiting assistant professor of Education. She has been a college supervisor for Student Field Experiences at the University of Toledo; an adjunct instructor at Owens Community College; and has taught at the middle school level. She received a bachelor’s degree in Education; a master’s degree in Secondary Education; and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision, all from the University of Toledo. Dr. Biglin is a member of numerous professional organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, the National Art Education Association and the National Catholic Education Association. She resides in Toledo but is in the process of relocating to Gahanna.
J. Jeffrey Grill, Ph.D. joins the university as a professor of Education. Dr. Grill previously served as a professor of Special Education and chair of the Special Education Department at Athens State University (AL) and held multiple teaching positions at the University of South Alabama. He received an A.B. degree in English Literature from St. Joseph’s University (PA); and a master’s degree in Education and Ph.D in Special Education from Temple University (PA). He is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Learning Disabilities Association and the Council on Learning Disabilities. Grill resides in Columbus.
Michel A. Coconis, Ph.D. joins ODU as assistant professor of Social and Behavioral Science and director of the online Criminal Justice program. She has been teaching as an adjunct professor at Ohio Dominican and at Capital University. Dr. Coconis received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Ohio Dominican, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Social Work, both from The Ohio State University. She is a member of various editorial boards and has served on multiple boards, including the Columbus Institute of Contemporary Journalism, CURE-Ohio, Inc., the Columbus Empowerment Coalition, Columbus NOW and Ohio NOW. She is a resident of Columbus.
Julie Hart, Ph.D joins ODU as associate professor of Sociology. She most recently served as an associate professor of Sociology and Peace Studies at Bethel College (KS). She received an associate’s degree in Nursing from Hocking College; a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Ohio University; a master’s degree in Sports Physiology from Ohio University; master’s degrees in International Peace Studies and Sociology, both from the University of Notre Dame; and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame. She has served on the State Judicial Administration for Kansas and the Peace Studies Association. Hart resides in Columbus.
