Ohio Dominican University and Teakwood Heights Civic Association Sign Good Neighbor Agreement

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Ohio Dominican University and the Teakwood Heights Civic Association, located immediately north of the ODU campus on Sunbury Road, have entered into a Good Neighbor Agreement.
“Ohio Dominican University has a strong history of supporting the community in which we are located. This Good Neighbor Agreement will enhance communication between our respective institutions, outlining specifically how the University and the Association can work together in a collaborative fashion,” said Ron Seiffert, Vice President for University Resources. “Collectively, we will be able to combine our efforts to address issues of common concern in the community including the traffic on Sunbury Road, safety and security, and the overall aesthetics of the neighborhood in which we live and work.”
The agreement was signed on November 20, 2006 after a resolution commending Ohio Dominican and Teakwood was introduced and approved by the Columbus City Council. The agreement ensures that Ohio Dominican and the Teakwood Heights Civic Association will continue to engage in open communication and periodic meetings, Included in the agreement are the following provisions:
- Ohio Dominican and Teakwood Heights will work together to get Sunbury Road traffic improvements considered.
- Ohio Dominican and Teakwood Heights will collaborate on funding opportunities as appropriate for their mutual benefit.
- Ohio Dominican will share with Teakwood Heights, development plans concerning construction, traffic, parking, and location of newly constructed facilities prior to their implementation.
- Ohio Dominican assures that any parcels purchased by the University within the Teakwood Heights subdivision are for single-family use only.
“Ohio Dominican has historically had a very strong and very active commitment to this neighborhood,” said Dr. Jack Calareso, President. “Our neighbors are always welcome on campus to attend events, our Village to Child program has served the children of this neighborhood for over a decade, and the University continues its commitment to service and citizenship. This agreement simply formalizes what we have always tried to be … a good neighbor.”
