Ohio Dominican Features Works of Artist Betsy Arvidson
March 1, 2007

COLUMBUS, OH - On March 11, Artist Betsy Arvidson returns to Ohio Dominican for her second gallery exhibition, The Intimate Landscape: New Works by Betsy Arvidson. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Sunday, March 11 in Wehrle Gallery from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Arvidson, a member of the Phoenix Rising Printmaking Cooperative and Gallery, works primarily with monotypes, painting the landscape directly on a smooth metal, glass or stone plate and then printing the image on paper.
“I try to convey a sense of contemplation when I create an environment,” Arvidson said. “I prepare my print area, my studio and my mind when I am ready to create, and with it there is a quiet concentration, a focus and a willingness to be receptive to the moment.”
Arvidson, represented by the Sharon Weiss Gallery, has had her works displayed in galleries nationwide. She worked as the coordinator of artist membership and special events at the National Academy of Design Museum in New York City before coming to Columbus. Arvidson received her bachelor’s degree from Kean University in New Jersey.
Arvidson’s exhibition runs through April 22.
Wehrle Gallery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is located on the main level of Wehrle Hall, on Ohio Dominican University’s main campus, 1216 Sunbury Road. Parking is available in the Visitors Lots directly west of Sunbury Road.
