Ohio Dominican Presidential Lecture Series Welcomes Political Commentator and Analyst Donna Brazile

COLUMBUS, OH – Donna Brazile, Political analyst political commentator and chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Voting Rights Institute, will speak at Ohio Dominican University as part of the University’s Presidential Lecture Series. Brazile will appear on October 3 , 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Matesich Theatre in Erskine Hall on ODU’s main campus, 1216 Sunbury Road.
Brazile, a well-versed Democratic political strategist, made history as t he first African American woman to lead a major presidential campaign when she served as campaign manager for Gore-Lieberman 2000. Prior to joining the Gore campaign, Brazile was Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of Columbia where she helped guide the District ’s budget and local legislation on Capitol Hill. Brazile is a weekly contributor and political commentator for CNN, a political consultant for ABC News, and a contributor to NPR ’s Political Corner. She is the author of Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics, a memoir about her life in the political arena.
Brazile, a native of New Orleans, earned her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1981 and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Louisiana State University in 2005.
Ohio Dominican University’s Presidential Lecture Series highlights the university’s commitment to the arts, education and politics and underscores the Ohio Dominican motto, “To contemplate truth and share with others the fruits of this contemplation.”

Brazile’s appearance at Ohio Dominican University will be the first of the 2007- 2008 Presidential Lecture Series season, which in past years has included political commentator William Kristol, author Amy Tan, NPR Fresh Air host Terry Gross, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights Edward Albee and Tony Kushner, educational psychologist Howard Gardner, best-selling author Frances Mayes, Poet Laureate Billy Collins, and Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist Ellen Goodman.
