Ohio Dominican to Hold Winter Commencement Ceremony

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Ohio Dominican University will hold its 88th commencement exercise at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Approximately 300 students will receive their degrees, joined by hundreds of family and friends in Alumni Hall.
Sr. Anne Kilbride, O.P., Prioress of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs and a member of ODU’s Board of Trustees, will deliver the commencement address.
Sr. Anne has served on her Congregation’s Leadership Team since 1996. Prior to that time, she worked for six years in Family Life Ministry in Stratford, CT. An educator and administrator, she taught at St. Mary’s, Northwest Catholic High School in Westford, CT; St. Jane de Chantal School in Chicago, IL; Holy Trinity School in Somerset, OH; and St. Phillip School in Columbus, OH.
She holds a bachelor's degree in English and Education from Southern Connecticut State University; a master's degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame; and a master's degree in Pastoral Counseling from Boston College. Sr. Anne serves on the board of trustees of Albertus Magnus College; the executive committee of the Dominican Leadership Conference; and the board of Catholic Social Services for the Diocese of Columbus.
During the ceremony, Sr. Anne, along with Bishop Robert J. McManus, Bishop of the Diocese of Worcester, Mass., will receive honorary degrees, Doctor of Divinity, Honoris Causa.
In 2004, Pope John Paul II named Bishop McManus as the Fifth Bishop of Worcester. He currently he is Chairperson of the Committee on Education for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Bishop McManus studied for the priesthood at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick, R.I. He earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a master of Divinity degree from the Toronto School of Theology. He also holds licentiate and doctoral degrees in Sacred Theology from The Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
