Math Placement

• If the student's Math ACT/SAT score is distinctly within a given range, follow across the chart below for the appropriate beginning mathematics course.
  
• If the student's Math ACT/SAT score is on the borderline, look at the student's high school transcript.
  
• If the student has done consistently A or B work in traditional high school courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or has improved grades to an A or B in the last course, move up on the level scale.
  
• If the student has not taken the traditional high school courses or has performed poorly in such courses, move down on the level scale.
  
• If the student's Math ACT/SAT score along with their previous mathematics courses does not clearly define their appropriate beginning point, use the online self assessment tools provided below to aid in placing the student.
