Biography: Jill C. Dardig received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College and the master's and doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is a professor of education in Ohio Dominican’s Intervention Specialist (special education) Program where she teaches courses and supervises student teachers. She previously taught at Russell Sage College (NY) and worked for the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Dardig was awarded the Booth-Ferris Master Faculty Award for 1999-2001. As part of this award, she created a Humanities Thematic course entitled “Urban Connections: Columbus Behind the Scenes”. Through weekly field trips and guided readings, students in this interdisciplinary course examine a wide variety of established and emerging institutions which give Columbus, Ohio, its unique character and presence. HUM 348 is offered every other spring semester. Dr. Dardig has spent two sabbaticals abroad, one in Porto, Portugal, where she worked at Centro da Vilarinha and the other in Japan, where she taught at Keio University in Tokyo. She is a past president of the Teacher Education Division of the Ohio Federation Council for Exceptional Children and has a variety of publications and presentations. Dr. Dardig has been on the faculty at ODU since 1978.
