Michael V. Dougherty received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Marquette University and a M.A. in philosophy from The Catholic University of America. He holds an undergraduate degree from The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts.
Dr. Dougherty joined the philosophy faculty at Ohio Dominican University in 2003. His research in the history of philosophy includes work on the thought of Thomas Aquinas, Aristotle, René Descartes, and Giovanni Pico della Mirandola. He has served as the Resident Director for ODU’s study-abroad program in Rome, Italy, and edits the online resource Pico in English: A Bibliography.
Dr. Dougherty edited Pico della Mirandola: New Essays (Cambridge University Press, 2008) and has published articles in Ancient Philosophy, The Review of Metaphysics, International Philosophical Quarterly, Vivarium, History of Philosophy Quarterly, The Heythrop Journal, American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly, National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, Argumentation, and International Journal of Philosophical Studies.
