| Biography: |
Leo Madden received his graduate training in Catholic Theology and Sacred Scripture at the Gregorian University and Biblical Institute in Rome, Italy, and was among the first American laypersons to receive graduate training at those institutions. His doctoral dissertation examined the modes of Paul's argumentation in the Letter to the Romans with attention to Classical Rhetoric. At Ohio Dominican University, Madden teaches courses in Sacred Scripture at the undergraduate and graduate levels and joins with a team of faculty in teaching in the Humanities Program. Madden was selected by a vote Ohio Dominican students in 1995 as the Outstanding Teacher of the year. Madden has organized numerous programs for spiritual and theological growth at many parishes in Washington, D.C. and Columbus, Ohio and has been interviewed frequently by local media on issues relating to the Catholic church. Madden is an active member of the Catholic Biblical Association, the Society of Biblical Literature and the Catholic Theology Society. He is the Editor for the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa, the national honors society for Theology and Religious Studies, and is the moderator for the local chapter at ODU.
