| Biography: |
Juliette Berning Schaefer, Associate Professor of English, earned her Ph.D. from Duquesne University. Her M.A. and B.A. were earned from the University of Dayton. Her fields of specialization include 19th-century British literature and Renaissance and 17th-century British literature. She is specifically interested in working-class literature, the publications of Edward Lloyd, Dickens and Gaskell studies, women's literature, and poetry. Professor Schaefer teaches first year writing courses, 19th and 20th-Century British literature, and Biographic Arts. She has published an article about Helen Taylor and has presented several conference papers including, "Gendered Discourses in Working-Class Fiction: Ada and Miranda"; The Representation of Women in Victorian Working-Class Popular Print Culture; and The Poetry and Essays in Lloyds Penny Weekly Miscellany as Discourse on Working-Class Economic, Political, and Social Concerns. She belongs to several professional organizations, including the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals and the Modern Language Association. |
