Majors at Ohio Dominican
Theology
While every student at Ohio Dominican University attains an understanding of and commitment to the University's motto,"To contemplate Truth and to share with others the fruits of this contemplation," Philosophy and Theology majors live out this maxim on a daily basis as they consider the great questions and mysteries of human life. Theology majors will ask "Who is God?” “How can we understand the mysteries of our faith?” “What is the meaning of faith in our lives?”
Theology is an attempt to come to an intellectually honest understanding of one’s faith relationship with God. At Ohio Dominican University , Theology is done from within the context of the Roman Catholic tradition. The study of Theology includes the subject areas of Scripture, the Trinity, Church, Spirituality, Sacraments and Social Justice. Special courses examine the writings of influential theologians of the past, such as Augustine and Aquinas. Theology graduates are prepared for a variety of careers including religious education, pastoral care, Christian counseling, youth and campus ministry, chaplaincy and ordained ministry. Others choose to continue their studies in graduate school, including pursuing Ohio Dominican’s Master of Arts in Theology degree.
