I chose to begin my academic career at Columbus State by taking the general education classes. I finished my 2 years and then began looking for a 4-year college to finish my degree. I was really looking to attend a Catholic university, but was worried about my credits not transferring to the only Catholic university in central Ohio - Ohio Dominican.
I applied to ODU and was surprised at how seamless the process was! By working closely with my Admission Counselor, I was plesantly surprised to see how many of my credits transferred with no problem and how many worked towards my degree program. I will graduate in only 2 years now with a full Bachelor's degree.
When I transferred to ODU I knew I wanted to experience campus life to the fullest - so I decided to live on campus for a year. Those experiences really helped me get involved in a lot of campus activities and events that I really enjoyed and made a lot of friends. I now live off campus with a great friend I met while living on campus.
ODU offers a small campus with personal attention, interactive class settings, accessibility to professors, staff and administrators. Having that close contact with so many people made my transfer in to ODU one of the easiest transtitions I've ever made.
My advice to other transfer students - Don't be afraid to get involved once you transfer in! Whether its going to the Academic Resource Center for tutoring, Career Development for help in career planning or the tons of activites offered to resident and commuter students alike, Don't wait...ODU is YOUR campus - experience it to the fullest!
