From Your Alumni Office
Winter has arrived in Ohio: campus is a wonderland today, blanketed with the season’s first snow as our students spend late nights in Spangler, in dorms and in their off-campus homes in preparation for next week’s semester finals. Winter commencement for nearly 400 soon-to-be-alumni is just days away while we all count down to Christmas. It’s been a both busy and blessed first semester for our campus community.

Our new core curriculum, our mission and identity, and our self-study are some of the key initiatives underway this semester. Construction on our new residence hall is progressing rapidly. Our students set records in contributions for our annual canned food drive, and our faculty and staff set records in participation of our Annual Fund. Our marching band more than doubled in size, and our soccer and football teams achieved first-ever national rankings. From our 300+ alumni attendance at Homecoming to our 200+ registrations for our first-ever Breakfast With Santa taking place this Saturday, we have seen many familiar and new faces on campus. We hope yours was one of them, and if not, we look forward to seeing you in the months ahead.

If you’d like to look for someone you may recognize, please enjoy browsing our Homecoming photos now available online at:

We’re grateful to work with YOUR Alumni Association Council to provide cultural, educational, professional, spiritual and social activities that keep you connected to ODU. Truly, we are grateful for each of you and your allegiance to your alma mater.

We hope that your holidays are filled with the happiness of being with those you love, peace-filled moments of reflection, and the satisfaction of doing something good for others.

Lastly, please don’t forget Ohio Dominican University as you consider end-of-year charitable contributions. No gift is too large or too small and every single dollar benefits the students we are privileged to educate and serve.

Happy and blessed holidays to you and yours,

Sue  & Tammy

Due to the overwhelming response, we have reached our capacity and are unable to accept any more reservations or event-day walk-ins for

Breakfast with Santa
Saturday, December 8, 2007

Earlier this semester Bishop Griffin established a Task Force on Mission and Identity.  The members of the task force are David Archibald, Fr. John Boll, Sr. Catherine Colby, Barbara Finan, Christie Flood Weiner, John Grant, Margaret Corbett Sullivan.

You may have already participated in our work by responding to an email request, attending an open forum, or coming to a focus group.  Those earlier efforts have helped us to prepare a survey which we would like you to complete.  The survey is not long and you should only need a few minutes or so to complete the questions.  We thank you in advance for participating.

Gift Planning: Another way To Support Ohio Dominican

As a result of the IRA Charitable Rollover Provision, you can make an Annual Fund gift to Ohio Dominican University, or a gift to the Bishop James A. Griffin Student Center, using your IRA. Donors who are at least 70 1/2 years of age may transfer up to $100,000 without taxable implications. The gift from your IRA goes towards satisfying your annual minimum distribution and is Non Taxable.
