From Your Alumni Office
Spring is here, reminding us of many of life’s new beginnings. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our soon-to-be alumni, the graduates of the Class of 2008, whom we will welcome into the Alumni Association at the reception in their honor on May 15, prior to their May 17 commencement.

ODU is currently reviewing and planning for a major redesign of our  www.ohiodominican.edu and myODU websites. We would like for you to participate in this project by providing us feedback using the following survey:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=7OZ9ybG40lQ5mykfFMkFPw_3d_3d

We also want to let you know that we will soon be introducing a new ODU Alumni Community website! Some of its features will include a directory, internal e-mail, event registration with online payments, calendar of events, photo gallery and more. This site will be phased in over the next several months. Check it often to see the progress and stay informed of additions to the calendar.

Our first-ever Dinner with 12 Strangers was hosted by Nancy Recchie ‘73  and co-hosted by Cia McQuaide ’72, several weeks ago (pictured right). The “D12”, as it’s called, is a new program that promises to build and strengthen our ODU community. Alumni host a casual dinner or meal for up to 12 students and alumni to network and share their ODU ties, along with faculty and staff members. Everyone enjoyed this special time to make new friends – no longer strangers!

Our Alumni Association Council will meet May 31, here in Guzman House. The Council’s Executive Committee members are: Nancy Recchie ’73, Reta Holden ’65, Cia McQuaide ’72; John Kelley ’05. One of the topics for discussion is the Alumni-Admissions Initiative, in which alumni will send personal notes to prospective students. Let us know if you’d like to join other alumni who participate in that activity or others involving current or incoming students.

Reunion is coming up fast, June 20-22! Special events have been planned, primarily geared to the St. Mary of the Springs alumnae who graduated in years ending in “3” or “5”. ODC and ODU  “3s” and “5s are invited to Class Reunions and parties during Homecoming, September 26-28.

Please also save the dates for our summer send-off family picnics: Columbus- July 22 on campus and Cleveland- July 24 at Cuyahoga National Park. Watch for details, but please save the date to have your family join your ODU family and meet our new president and first lady, Brian and Judy Nedwek!

Last, but certainly not least, please join us in congratulating ODU’s Baseball Coach, Paul Page (pictured left), who earned his 800th career victory on April 27. Paul has been inspiring, motivating and mentoring Ohio Dominican students since 1987. We wish him continued success.

   Happy Spring, everyone!

Leave a Legacy
Some people find that they can make a larger gift to Ohio Dominican upon their death than they could have during their lifetime. If you have ever considered a bequest to ODU through your Will and would like to discuss this possibility, please contact Dave VanWassenhove, Director of Gift Planning, at 614-251-4643 or vanwassd@ohiodominican.edu.
