Elizabeth Biggert

Elizabeth Biggert graduated in 1937 with a bachelor's degree from St. Mary of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican University) with a major in English and a minor in biological sciences. Biggert also has a bachelor's of science in library science from Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University). Since graduating she has worked as a librarian at Toledo Public Library, Columbus Public Library, and Ohio Historical Society Library. Biggert spent 22 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve including two years on the staff at the U.S. Navy Midshipman School for Women at Smith College during World War II. She also worked at the Battelle Columbus Library where she was the head of the Economics Library. In 1953 Biggert authored Guide to the Manuscripts in the Library of the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society. She has been affiliated with the Special Libraries Association, Columbus Symphony Women's Association Board of Trustees and the Columbus Naval Services Chapter, Reserve Officers Association- President 1966-1967. She was also appointed to the Ohio Governor's Advisory Committee on Women Veterans, 1995-1998.
