Double Dominicans
It was ODC Day 1993, and senior Tom Schwirian was too busy to participate in the
festivities; he was studying for a test. He did make it to the party later that evening.
It was there that Tom met Cindi Phillips and they hit it off right away. But at the time,
they were both dating other people. Once the 1993 fall semester began, Tom and Cindi began
to study together, and they were inseparable.
On the night of December 11, 1993, they planned to go to the Christmas Dance as good
friends. It was on the dance floor they both realized they were meant to be more than just
friends. As Cindi's junior year began, they decided to date officially - it seemd to make
sense since they were already best friends. Tom courted Cindi the old fashioned way for
the next two years. On Cindi's graduation day, 1996, he proposed on the Oval with the
most romantic speech. In June 1997, they were married by Father Ken Sicard on the same
campus where they had met.
Tom and Cindi are still each other's best friends.
