Office of Multicultural Affairs
In keeping with our Catholic and Dominican tradition, Ohio Dominican University values diversity and seeks to add richness to teaching and learning in a variety of ways. The Office of Multicultural Affairs has been established to provide education-based services that support academic success and personal development and to promote a sense of community that enhances the well-being of all students.
These objectives are achieved through advising sessions, referrals to appropriate offices and sponsorship of campus programming designed to educate and foster the exchange of dialogue in a setting where civility and respect is observed.
In addition to serving as primary point of contact for underrepresented student populations, this office provides, in conjunction with the Intercultural Office, a variety of programs and discussions on the issues facing all people in a diverse community.
Ohio Dominican University is proud to be home to a rich and culturally diverse community. We promote diversity and respect through many programs and activities throughout the year.
- Areas of study/courses including History of Islam, Women and Psychology, Cross Cultural Communication, International Literature in English, Ethnicity and National Unity and a host of other compelling courses that are offered each semester.
- Several Clubs and Organizations focus on diversity like Bridges of Diversity Club, the Model United Nations, Black Student Union, PRIDE and the Mila African Dance Group and much more.
- Programs focusing on cultural diversity like the Presidential Lecture Series, Minority Speaker Forums, Hispanic Week, Women's History Month, Black History Month and many more.
- Prominent guests to campus who represent diverse backgrounds and ideas have included, author & poet Maya Angelou, actor Ossie Davis, and New York Times best-selling authors Amy Tan, Henry Louis Gates and Tony Kushner.
