  • For Parents & Families

Ohio Dominican's Career Development Center helps students connect their academic studies, their strengths and their goals with a future career. The career planning process looks different for everyone, but the key is to be actively engaged in connecting a student's interests and talents with opportunities that will develop skills and provide real world experience.

Sending your student to college is a significant investment of time and resources. The Career Development Center will help your student navigate the process of choosing a major, finding a career path, getting real-world experience, developing professional skills and securing a job after graduation.

Encourage your student to do the following:

    • Explore all the involvement opportunities on campus including student organizations, campus ministry groups, volunteer initiatives, social events and guest lectures.
    • Visit the Career Development Center to take interest and personality assessments that can help guide them toward a major and a career that fits their strengths, passions and goals.
    • Meet with an academic advisor and faculty members who can provide valuable information about the career prospects for particular majors, fields of specialization, graduate schools and significant internship opportunities.
