  • Deadlines / When to Apply
    Classes at Ohio Dominican University begin in the Fall or Spring.
    • To apply for Fall Semester (begins in August)

      All application materials must be submitted by June 1
    • To apply for Spring Semester (begins in January)

      All application materials must be submitted by November 1
  • Transcripts
    • Submit all academic transcripts from previous academic institution(s) such as high school or university.
    • Applicants must also submit the results of any standardized examination that they have taken (for example O and A-levels, SSCE, CXC, IB etc.).
    • Applicants may be asked to submit their official academic transcripts and records from the last academic institution(s) that they have attended to the World Evaluation Services (WES). For information on WES, visit www.wes.org

  • Proof of English Proficiency
    To be admitted to Ohio Dominican with a full academic course load, applicants for whom English is not their first language must meet the following requirements.
    • Minimum TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 550 (or 79 internet based).

      ODU Institutional TOEFL code is 1131. For more information, visit www.ets.org/toefl.

      OR

    • Successful completion of ELS Level 112 intensive program.

      OR

    • Official IELTS band score of at least 6.5.

      For more information, visit www.ielts.org.


      For Japanese Students
    • Official STEP EIKEN score of 1st and Pre-1st. For more information, visit www.eiken.or.jp.


    Academic English Transition Program

    ODU's  Academic English Transition Program is designed for international students who don't meet the minimum English proficiency requirements for a full admission.

  • SAT or ACT Score
    Recommended but not required.

    Applicants may request that their official SAT or ACT score report be sent to Ohio Dominican University

  • Personal Statement
    Submit a personal statement describing your personal and educational goals and how you hope Ohio Dominican will help you reach them.

    This statement should be at least 250 words in length.

  • Declaration of Finances

    The financial sponsor and guarantor of the applicant must complete a Declaration of Finances Form. Please read and compete the form carefully. 

    An I-20, the immigration document required to apply for a visa, to enter the U.S. and to study at ODU, cannot be issued to an accepted student, if this is not properly and accurately completed.

  • Evidence of Financial Support

    Along with the Declaration of Finances form, evidence that the applicant's financial guarantor has funds available for at least the first year must also be submitted.

    Sufficient evidence would include a current bank statement in the name of the sponsor on bank letterhead or an official award letter for a scholarship or fellowship. 

    The documents must be less than one year old. An I-20 cannot be issued without the completed form as well as evidence of financial support.
