Sophomore Allie Hinton (Newcomerstown, OH) was named GLIAC Softball Player of the Week for her performance over the past six games.
Hinton, the 2014 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, has now earned her fourth career conference player of the week accolades, and her first of the 2015 season.
After earning six player and pitcher of the week honors combined last season as a team, this is the first for the defending GLIAC champions.
Hinton batted .438 last week, logging seven hits, as she helped lead the Panthers to a 3-3 record overall, and a 3-1 mark in conference play.
Of her seven hits, Hinton recorded three home runs and two doubles. She leads the conference in doubles with 10 on the season and is tied with teammate Taylor Thomas(Bellville, OH) for fourth in the GLIAC with four home runs.
She also added eight RBI during the six game stretch, as she ranks second in the conference with 27 on the season. Hinton also scored seven runs in the six contests, giving her a season total of 17, vaulting her to sixth in the GLIAC.
Hinton finished the week strong, logging four hits, five RBI, and three runs, assisting in the Panthers in a doubleheader sweep over Lake Superior State on Monday.
The Panthers will be in action for the third consecutive day, as they travel face Findlay at 3:30 p.m. today for a GLIAC doubleheader.
