This October, you can pay off your library fines AND contribute to help those in need all at the same time! Each year, the ODU Library participates in Campus Ministry’s Canned Food Drive during the month of October. Acceptable items include any size cans, glass containers or jars, packages such as pasta or sauces, or boxed items such as rice or cereal. Items that are not acceptable include perishable items or items marked “Not Labeled For Retail Sale.” For each can or package of non-perishable food items donated, you can take $1.00 off your total library fines (including OhioLINK fees). The total number donated may cover the total amount of your fines OR any part of the total. We will also accept items for donation if no fines are owed, but will not apply that amount “on credit” toward future fines. Contact Circulation Services for more information.

We have just updated our Library Catalog's Advanced Keyword Search Page  with some cool new features. Please notice the updates:

• Electronic Resource drop down menu --  one can now limit by all Electronic Resources at once by selecting ALL. You can still choose a specific type from the Electronic Resource drop down menu or the Material Type drop down menu. 
• Periodical drop down menu – one can now limit by all Periodical formats at once by selecting ALL. You can still choose a specific type from the Periodical drop down menu or the Material Type drop down menu.

NetLibrary has been acquired by EBSCO and is now named EBSCO eBook Collection. Now that the transistion is complete, you can now search for eBooks on the familiar EBSCO platform. More information about the EBSCO eBook Collection is available from OhioLINK. You can also find eBooks in another eBook database or via the ODU Library Catalog. You may know that Electronic Course Reserves have moved to ANGEL. In order to assist with the creation of and access to Electronic Reserves in ANGEL, ODU Library has created Faculty Instructions and Student Instructions for ANGEL e-Reserves. If you have any questions about creating or accessing Electronic Reserves in ANGEL, please contact ODU Library Access Services.

The new EBSCO iPhone app is now available! It is free and offers the convenience and rich functionality that enables users to:

• Choose which databases to search
• Limit results to full text or peer reviewed
• Sort by relevance or date
• Retrieve full text results in HTML and/or PDF formats
• Save results for offline access at a later date
• Email results to self or others
• View cover flow display of results

To get started, simply click on the EBSCOhost iPhone/iPod Touch Application link at the bottom of the EBSCOhost screen and follow the instructions.

OhioLINK is proud to announce that the Electronic Journal Center has officially reached 15 million articles! The EJC, launched in 1998, contains more than 9,000 scholarly journal titles across a wide range of disciplines. Researchers can download electronic articles instantly, read entire journal issues online, create e-mail or RSS alerts for new issues, save searches, and set up automatic search alerts for new search results. For more information about OhioLINK resources, visit OhioLINK's website, follow OhioLINK on Facebook, or just ask a librarian!

ODU Library will be updating its platform for our Proquest databases. Please be aware that there may be technical difficulties during the update. For a sneak peek of the new plaform, take a look at the plaform highlights. And don't hesitate to ask a librarian if you have any questions!

Electronic reserves for your course can now be found on ODU's Angel Learning System. Once you log in, you will see a module for electronic reserves from which you can access electronic reserves for your courses. Print reserves can still be found in the ODU Library Catalog. Please contact Circulation Services with any questions.

ODU Library's Catalog will have a new look beginning April 20! However, the functionality will not change whatsoever. You can see a sneak peek of the new look here. ODU Library will be upgrading to a new version of the ILLiad interlibrary loan system Thursday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. We ask that you not log in during this time in order to avoid any problems with your requests. While we expect this to go smoothly, please be aware that such transitions sometimes cause unexpected complications. Please let us know at illservices@ohiodominican.edu if you have any questions or if you experience any problems with regard to your ILLiad account and requests. 

Hoover's Online business database has updated its interface. The Hoover's website now delivers a more in-depth, yet simplified experience. Enhancements include increases in company records, people records, and Build A List criteria. You can explore the resource center for an introduction to the powerful enhancements in the new Hoover's to take full advantage of the enhanced functionality. Take a look at our other business databases for more research options. Or just ask a  librarian! 

Ohio Dominican University Library's subscription to New Testament Abstracts and Old Testament Abstracts will expire February 1. However, the subscription to ATLA Religion Database has been upgraded to include ATLASerials, which combines the premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion with ATLA's online collection of major religion and theology journals. For more information about options in online theology research, please explore ODU Library's theology databases. The ODU community now has access to more than 3.4 million additional articles from Elsevier, a highly regarded publisher in the fields of science and engineering. Though OhioLINK member libraries have had access to nearly 2,400 Elsevier journals previously, this collection includes historic backfiles, allowing the ODU community to search for and cite past works and knowledge.
